NO CONSISTENCY LEADS TO LASHING OUT

This past week at work has been horrific. That may be hard to understand, how could a week at school (especially for a principal, seems more plausible for teachers) be so terrible. Just a tough stretch at school, too much going on and not enough people to help with all the stuff that has to be done before the end of school.

That being said, I have let the stress of the job get to me this week....and the running I usually do to relieve that stress was inconsistent and choppy this week.....so, the stress built up and of course I let it out.

Now I must take this opportunity to go to school, to my students, and to my teachers and make ammends. I owe them an apology, and I intendt to give them a sincere one. I am not sure if principals do this frequently, if at all, but I have a hard time asking my students/teachers to act with honor and respect and not hold myself accountable as well.

Hopefully this week I can get in a few more runs, get some of this stuff off my plate, and have a final two weeks with my seniors that is enjoyable.

Wish me luck.

It is a funny thing how life interferes with our running! And I am only half kidding. I absolutely blame my patients for getting me sick before Boston. Again, only half kidding.

Best of luck getting back into the running groove and that will make everything so much easier to deal with.

How about setting your clock for an hour earlier the next two weeks, and getting your runs in before school? At least, with all the end of year craziness, you'll have that done!!

Good for you for making amends. It's rare, so I'm impressed.

I'm sure that everyone understands. It is the end of the year after all.

It is frustrating when life gets in the way of running. Soon you'll have so much time you won't know what to do with it!

Don't beat yourself up too much! I'm sure your kids/teachers know you well enough to know you were having a bad week...which just shows you are HUMAN! The fact that you would apologize makes you someone they can admire (which I'm sure they do already)!

Take a deep breath - it'll be ok!

I am a father of two. Married to a wonderful lady, who is a teacher. I myself used to be a teacher, but I am currently employeed as a High School Principal I love my work, I love my family, and I enjoy running to take the edge off. I come from a long line of military men. In fact, it was my life-long dream to be a pilot in the Air Force...but due to circumstances beyond my control (lack of perfect eyesight), that dream was ot able to be realized. So, I stumbled into a new dream....attempting to become a world class educator. I am still a work in progress in the classroom, and on the roads.
