This is why I need to run on a daily basis.
I am interviewing teachers for an opening at my school.
I call various applicants to schedule face-to-face meetings.
I get a hold of the first three applicants no problem.
I call the fourth applicant at work, not there because she is on maternity leave.
I call her at home, no there.....not even an answering machine.
I call her on the cell number she provided, and her husband picks up.
I ask to speak to Mrs. Band Teacher...he says okay...hands the phone to his wife.
Up to this point, nothing seems out of the ordinary.
She gets on the phone, I ask her about scheduling an interview and she informs me:
"I would love to interview, but can I get back to you about a date and time?"
I say, "Sure, no big deal, do you need to check your calendar?"
She says, "Nope, just in the middle of giving birth to twins."
At this comment I almost fall out of my seat.
I stumble over some words, apologize for interrupting her, and let her know that I will email her possible dates and times .... and ask her to get back to me.
Who answers a cell call from a stranger in the middle of child birth?
Who hands a cell phone to his wife in the middle of child birth?
How do I regain my dignity after interrupting child birth, even though there is no possible way I could have known?
Are jobs so scarce that one would answer such a call in the middle of child birth?
Am I going nuts?

I saw that coming after the maternity leave comment, but it was STILL funny!
Me. I would pick up in the middle of birth. Because, it's such a long long process, you could do that.
Twins? Now, that's a different story.
Funny, though.
That is hilarious! Hope she gets the job.
