THE WINTER BLUES

Gotta say that I am feeling a bit of the winter blues.
I have spent a large portion of this weekend sleeping in, laying around, and being lazy.
I am just having a tough time getting myself up and out the door.
I, eventually, got out the door both Saturday and Sunday but man I did not want to do so.
I guess I am not the only one that gets this feeling, but this may be the first time it has hit
so hard....I have to be honest, for the past week or so, I have not even wanted to go to work.
Anyway, ................... I have come up with a possible solution.............SET A SPRING GOAL.
I am going to run a 1/2 marathon or marathon that I can fit into my busy schedule as a high school principal. Many of the races I want to run, or can run, just fall on weekends where I have
other NECESSARY school activities....activities I MUST ATTEND...activities for graduating seniors, or athletics, or honor students........and believe me, if I do not show up for one of these events because I wanted to go off and run a race..............I may never hear the end of it. Not that
I am complaining, I knew what I was getting into when I took this job.

All that being said, I have decided to do something I did when I trained for my first marathon (Chicago, 1998).....I am going to plan out a detailed weight lifting plan, try and plan out a better diet for myself, and stick to a strict training plan.

The race...........DO NOT KNOW YET........but I can start planning my training now.
Let you know what race I decide upon and what my race day goals will be when I know.

A goal is a great way to get past that loss of mojo! Looking forward to hearing about your race pic!

I have been suffering from the winter blues myself,as cold as
it's been, I've managed to convince myself to still go out and run in the cold weather.

I give you a ton of credit for having the time to put in any type of workout schedule being as busy as you are. I think planning out a weight lifting plan would work out great. Lots of luck :D, Happy Training!!!

I'm with you...can't get motivated. Too cold, too cloudy, too blah. Spring is just around the corner....well, not really, but I keep telling myself that in a vain attempt to get going! :-)

I am a father of two. Married to a wonderful lady, who is a teacher. I myself used to be a teacher, but I am currently employeed as a High School Principal I love my work, I love my family, and I enjoy running to take the edge off. I come from a long line of military men. In fact, it was my life-long dream to be a pilot in the Air Force...but due to circumstances beyond my control (lack of perfect eyesight), that dream was ot able to be realized. So, I stumbled into a new dream....attempting to become a world class educator. I am still a work in progress in the classroom, and on the roads.
