WELL I WAS WRONG

How does the saying go, "the best laid plans....."
Well, I had planned on no running this week due to our 84th Annual Conference Basketball Tournament. Being the principal of the annual host for the tournament, it is my job to run the 4 day tournament....which means no home life and no running for a week.

I had just come to grips, once again, with the reality of this. Not happy about it, but I had become comfortable with it.

Wouldn't you know it, Mother Nature has a way of throwing a wrench into my "best laid plans". A snow and ice storm is about to hit our region, and the prediction is it will be the worst storm in 2 decades.........which means the tournament postponed (which means my week of non-running will happen later this week and early next week or .....who knows), and now the weather is making it difficult to run while I am stuck at home.

I went out for a 5 miler tonight, before the storm was supposed to hit, and wouldn't you know it...the weather hammered me. The ice storm pelted me in the face....and to my surprise, 15 degree temperatures with wind and ice never felt so GREAT!

I am hoping the weather does not make it impossible for me to run. If I cannot go to school and I cannot get our tournament up and going, I might as well use the time to get in some FUN runs.....boy I hope Mother Nature does not go TOO NUTS.

On a more serious note, I also hope and pray the storm is not nearly as bad as they predict. After last year's storm, we cannot afford a worse storm. Many of my teachers did not have electricity or water for 2 weeks. For their moral and the moral of their families I am praying for the weathermen to be their usual "way off base" selves.

Great job on going out on that winter run. I bet it felt great! Your a brave soul. I run when it's in the single digits and clear, but you won't get me out there when it's snowing or when there is an ice storm. They are not real good at cleaning walk ways and streets here and people here in CT are all crazy drivers. The last storm we had a car went between a mail box & a brick wall down an into embankment and almost hit our building! But on the another note, I'll say a prayer for all those folks as well. Not having power or water for two weeks must have been horrible. I hope that mother nature will take it easy as well. Good luck and Great Job.

Man, sick for half a week and still got 22+ miles in. Way to go. Someday I will hope off the Excuse train and get my running in.

I am a father of two. Married to a wonderful lady, who is a teacher. I myself used to be a teacher, but I am currently employeed as a High School Principal I love my work, I love my family, and I enjoy running to take the edge off. I come from a long line of military men. In fact, it was my life-long dream to be a pilot in the Air Force...but due to circumstances beyond my control (lack of perfect eyesight), that dream was ot able to be realized. So, I stumbled into a new dream....attempting to become a world class educator. I am still a work in progress in the classroom, and on the roads.
