PREPARING FOR NO RUNNING FOR A WEEK

There are three weeks every school year that really put a cramp in my running program. Monday begins week #2....Conference Basketball Tournament Week. As the high school principal of my school, I have the honor of hosting the tournament, and per tradition we do so every school year. Needless to say, there is lots of prep time leading up to the tournament (an additional 30-40 hours of work outside of my regular principal duties). What is more of a challenge is the week of the tournament....where my days start at 7:00am and end at 11:00pm, with little to no down time. On the bright side, it is only one week long.....and the down side, no family for a week and no RUNNING for a week.

As my wife will attest, me not running for a week makes me difficult to live with around the house. As my teachers will attest, me not seeing my kids for a week makes me difficult to live with around school.

I may be the most hated guy in town at the end of this week.

Thank goodness it's only a week, but your wife understands. That is why spouses are wonderful, they love you even if your not the easiest person to be around at the time. Hopefully, the week will go by quickly and you'll be back on your regular schedule soon.

I vote for letting your VP do 45 minutes a day, and you put on those shoes. Carve it INTO your day.

I'll be following this. We try to tell kids to take care of themselves...get exercise, etc.

You could do it. You could. Good luck!! Have your wife and kids meet you at the track, then you get it all done!!!

I am a father of two. Married to a wonderful lady, who is a teacher. I myself used to be a teacher, but I am currently employeed as a High School Principal I love my work, I love my family, and I enjoy running to take the edge off. I come from a long line of military men. In fact, it was my life-long dream to be a pilot in the Air Force...but due to circumstances beyond my control (lack of perfect eyesight), that dream was ot able to be realized. So, I stumbled into a new dream....attempting to become a world class educator. I am still a work in progress in the classroom, and on the roads.
